Dr. Alexander Lorch

Dr. Alexander Lorch is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Business Ethics.

Dr. Alexander Lorch, born in 1982, studied Business Administration at the European Business School (ebs) in Oestrich-Winkel, graduated 2007 as Diplom-Kaufmann (M.Sc.) and worked for KPMG for a year. From 2008 to 2013 he conducted his doctoral studies at the University in St.Gallen. He continues to work as a research fellow at the Institute for Business Ethics in St.Gallen.

His dissertation project "From Ordoliberalism to Substantial Liberalism: Foundations of a liberal social and economic order" is devoted to a critical discussion of the concept of the German social market system "Soziale Marktwirtschaft". It analyses the ordo-liberal, normative-ethical fundamentals of the concept as an economic- and social order and strives to reanimate its underlying republican-liberal idea.

Alexander Lorch is currently working as a visiting postdoc scholar at the Chair in Business Ethics at the Haas School of Business of the University of California at Berkeley.
